Spring Week #4: Planting, and planting, and planting, Oh My!

Posted on May 22nd, 2020 by Stacey Taggart

The wind has slowed down our planting plans somewhat but we're still on target to get the bulk of our warm-season crops in throughout the next two weeks.  It's a race against time (and the weather) so we can give the crops as much time as possible to grow and develop.  We've got all the tomatoes and peppers for the year in so cross your fingers for us:  Saturday night temps are looking a little low for our liking so we'll be covering everything over, hopefully sufficient enough that the wind doesn't blow it off before dawn on Sunday.  That's when it's coldest, interestingly, right as the sun rises.

If this all sounds negative, I don't mean it in that way at all.  It's all part of the "game" of agriculture and although dealing with the variable weather can being annoying/worrisome/frustrating, it's also humbling, helping us to never lose sight of where we stand in this world.  And as trying as it can be sometimes, the triumph is always worth it!
