LOGISTICS
- Going on a trip? Reschedule your pickup by going onto your online profile. This can be done in advance online. OR look at the customization email you receive on Monday and find something like "Can't make it? Reschedule my Delivery". Do this before the Customization cutoff time (Wed 7am). Or at any point, let me know you'd like to Donate your share and we'll include it in our weekly donation to the Frederick Food Bank.
- You can pick up your share Thursday or Friday 9am-7pm or Saturday 9am-5pm. We are more available to assist you on Thursdays or Fridays, but all three days are available to you.
- We donate to the Frederick Food Bank weekly! If you miss your pickup, no worries. Your produce will be donated. Thank you for contributing to this important community service that we are making happen together. It takes a village.
EATING WITH THE SEASONS
Your CSA experience has you eating with the seasons. In the spring you get the leafy greens your body needs after a long winter. Early summer--happy summer solstice!--brings squash and broccoli and green beans and cucumbers. Beets. Summer settles in with heat-loving crops like tomatoes and peppers and eggplant. Fall brings potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and pumpkin.
WHAT'S GROWING ON
We have a big harvest of broccoli, zucchini and cabbages for this week. Curly kale remains steady, it grows and regrows as fast as we pick it. Yellow patty pan squash look like little flying saucers. They are so delicious and buttery, sliced thin and sauteed til soft. Try zucchini cut into slices long ways, marinated in olive oil and oregano, then grilled (or sautee). Broccoli is only around for a few weeks, as it doesn't hold well on the plant or in cold storage. Enjoy it while it's here! Double your order if you need more for your side dishes. Coming soon...cucumbers!!
LIMITED SWAPPING THIS WEEK
You might find it tricky to swap items this week. It's because we have limited supply of some items, as crops transition in the field. Some are wrapping up and others just getting started. There isn't a lot of surplus to offer for swapping, so it's a little tight this week. Just stick with what comes on your list (set your preferences to make sure your list is full of things you like!), double something we have in bounty or check back later Monday or Tuesday to see if the swap options change. Contact Ilene if you aren't able to set up your share to your liking.

FARM HANDS DAYS
Thank you to those who helped plant sweet potatoes! The slips are all planted and cooling with sprinklers to help them establish in the ground. By August they will be a sea of vines! Check out the sweet rows to the farthest rows left of the hoophouse if you want to check in on them and see how they change.
What are Farm Hands Days? Sometimes I'll offer up a "Farm Hands" opportunity. These are opportunities to help grow the crops that feed our community. You might be planting or harvesting. You'll learn as you help out! Stay tuned for the next opportunity. Maybe garlic harvesting in a couple weeks.
