WHAT'S GROWING ON

We are harvesting some lovely fresh fall greens. A smaller variety of bok choy this week. The harvests these last two weeks have some quantities of more crops. Little of this and that available. You might notice more sold out items than usual if you are customizing. We are dishing out all we can to stock your kitchen for November! Enjoy.

U-PICK Snap pea plants responded to the extra watering and produced many flowers and peas. Have a snack! There is a new fall flower row near the Bean Hut, with celosia and bells of ireland.

OUR WEATHER REPORT

The first freeze watch of the season was last night, having us covering crops that might get hit. It did not end up getting as cold as predicted. A freeze will come soon and put the gardens to bed, but we will get through our last two CSA harvests first! Race to the end! Keeping things exciting.

And have you noticed...it doesn’t rain anymore except during tropical storms. Your farmer will be the one to notice these things.

SOUP SEASON

What are your favorite soup recipes? I have two go-to soups, both from Moosewood’s Daily Specials cookbook. I love their Tunisian Pumpkin Soup which I use with butternut squash. And Winter Minestrone, which calls for sweet potatoes. So good. Can’t find the minestrone recipe online but any minestrone will do. Here’s the Tunisian Soup again:

ADMIN CORNER

Those of you on auto-renew will receive an email in a few days. You’ll need to claim the account, make a password and add credit card info. It’s not been very “auto”-matic, due to the change in software. Thanks for your patience!

If you have shares on Hold that you want to use, you need to take it off hold and assign it to the last week of CSA (Nov 7). This would need to be set up this week to activate.
