Chilly this morning. Fall has arrived! Lots to choose from--you are encouraged to customize your share by swapping for things you'd most enjoy. Message Ilene if you need help with it.
Welcome to Fall Share! I love the greens of the cool fall months, as well as the continued storage crops. Summer crops are diminishing, with a bit of tomatoes, peppers and watermelon still ripening.
The fall season brings us more greens reminiscent of the spring season--this week we have chard, bok choy, kale, lettuce, arugula and tatsoi (Asian spinach). Greens love the cool temps of spring and fall, with a milder flavor in fall as it gets cooler out.
Tatsoi is an asian spinach variety. It is a cool weather crop, growing the most bountiful bouquets in the fall. Enjoy as you would spinach--raw as a salad base or accent, baked or sauteed. In smoothies. Unlimited!
We are not going to be able to have a digging party as we sometimes do. But when you visit, you can dig around in the loose soil and see if we missed some treasure. Ask us questions about how the sweets are grown! Like...how do they get so sweet??
