One of the resolutions that was made going into this season was that an extra effort would be made to celebrate the milestones as they presented themselves. To this end, I am both proud and sad to say that we are losing some very, very special people who have spent the majority of their summer with us. A mix of university and high school students who truly leaned in and made this season a very special one. It was a pleasure to see them learn and to problem solve.
The vision of Mike's Garden Harvest is to connect people with how their food is grown. We do that a lot of ways. We have gardners who come out and proudly care for their plot of land and drive me nuts in the process (kidding) We have hosted community events promoted though Facebook and our Meetup group. Then we have had students here in the capacity of doing their coop, their community hours and also working as paid crew. This is ofcourse all possible because of a partnership that we form with our CSA members who are the ones who primarily fund the season.
So take one long look at this week's picture and smile. They all had a good summer and they have a great story to tell. It is the story of how our food is grown and the work that goes into doing that. May they be telling it all of their days :-)
