A steady unveiling of the field through the spring followed by a flury of planting and weeding and suddenly it is August!
Ofcourse there is well over half the season left in terms of field work, but in terms of planting the end is near. What can we still grow as seed catalogues are combed over and boxes of seed are sorted through. Days to harvest dates are not all equal as the available daylight creeps toward a shorter side of the scale. It is still fun to try and it is a cheeky triumph when you win. So try we will..if only for a week if the weather lets us. We have been blessed with protection from tornado and hail and we are most grateful for that. Certainly the storms have been far too close for comfort.
This week, the much anticipated garlic and peaches are in the mix along with fresh sweet corn. All delicious. Please pay attention to your Harvie builds so you are getting exactly what you want. The garlic is available both as a single bulb and ALSO in 1lb increments. Northumberland has a very strong flavour whereas the Korean Red is much milder. Both are delicious :-)
