Hi farm friends!
Writing this on the road today so it will be short and sweet. So many things are happening in the field right now, it is wonderful to feel the abundance.
Most exciting this week is the ripening of our brassica patch which means broccoli, cabbage, and soon, cauliflower. These were some of the first plants we transplanted into the field. Along with regular broccoli, we tried growing sprouting broccoli and are happy with the results. These are basically the florets of the broccoli without the main stem. They're so sweet and juicy. Another experiment of ours is mini cabbages, which we feel are a bit more manageable for many people. We love our summer cabbages which are remarkably fresh and sweet, amazing for a slaw. There are also regular sized cabbages available to add to your shares!
As well as these brassicas, we also have lots of zucchini and cucumbers. Cucumbers are my favourite thing to snack on in the summer - they are full of flavour compared to the winter grocery store cukes.
Make sure to customize your share!
We have so many more items this week that you might not find in your share but that are available to swap in or add. Kale, chard, parsley, basil, head Lettuce, mini romaine lettuce, and more. Make sure to log in and check it out to make the most of your farm share. Happy eating! Your farmers Kim
