Please look into your share and customize it! We have so many items on the list that there are lots of options for you to really create the share you want.
We're in a beautiful place in our season where we have lots of new items ripening, while we still have stock of some of our earlier produce. It's a wild cross-over time of madly bed prepping and planting and harvesting and eating (because we want to enjoy this abundance ourselves)!
We pulled all our garlic in from the field last week! It was a big job to get done, and we're really happy with it! It is now drying in our packhouse. Once it is fully dried/cured, it will last until spring if kept in the right cool dry conditions.
A Note on Cauliflower
Cauliflower is a tricky one for us. We have some nice cauliflower we're harvesting this week. But it does seem to get brown quickly in the fridge, more quickly than store-bought. This is new for us and I'm not sure what is happening. It's still fine to eat but definitely not quite as appetizing. I suggest you try storing it in a plastic bag in the fridge, hopefully it will stay fresher longer this way.
Veggie Highlights this Week
Peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes are starting to ripen! Cherry tomatoes are in half pints this week to spread out the love. We also have the first of our carrots and beans. You'll start to see these pop up in your shares - we don't have enough for everyone to get them... yet. But hopefully you'll get one of these in your shares if it's something you like.
Jalapenos, basil, parsley, mini romaine lettuce, rainbow chard, green cabbage, and kohlrabi are all items that won't be automatically placed in your shares but that you can swap in or add.
Well, there is lots to do out there on this hot July day. Happy eating!
Your farmer,
Kim
