Welcome to week 7 of the farm share!
Now is your time to customize your share – you’ll have til midnight on Tuesday to do so. This is a bountiful week so there is lots available to swap into your share, make sure to take a look! Also, please remember to return your green bags when you pick up your shares (thank you to everyone who returned them last week!)
On The Farm
We FINALLY got some rain! A nice gentle pour which is a relief because after waiting so long for rain there is always the feeling that we’re going to get something more damaging. The plants needed this rain, and we’re thankful, even if it wasn’t a huge amount.
We’re starting to feel a little better with things on the farm, now that we have our trusty compost back and our farm crew. Our greenhouses are starting to put out tomatoes, which are looking like some of the best we’ve grown in the last few years! And we have the first of this season's beans! They might be the crop that takes the longest to harvest, but we're happy they're here.
This week, we were able to spend a good amount of time preparing the soil for our fall plantings and getting plants in the ground. We have a lot of carrots planted, as well as beans, a new planting of zucchinis and cucumbers, and this week we’ll be planting our cabbages, broccoli, and more kale.

Veggies This Week
Week 7 is looking like a good one! We’ve got beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, our mini cabbages (great for a single meal!), and the first BEANS of the season! We’ve got jalapenos and the first of the season’s shishitos. Cucumbers and zucchinis are still chugging along, although they aren’t as bountiful as they were last year. We’re hoping the second planting will be better! Parsley, kale, chard, and basil are available too.
From Common Ground Farm this week, we have more new red potatoes, arugula, and NEW this week – oregano and sage. All herbs are available as swappable only – that means, they aren’t going to be automatically added to your share but you can purchase them as extras, or swap them into your share.
A Note on Tomatoes
We grow a few heirloom varieties that are prone to cracking and scabbing. We accept this as a trade-off for the superior flavour of these varieties!
Enjoy your veggies - and thanks for keeping us growing!
Your farmer,
Kim
