Welcome to week 2 of the Fall Share! With only 6 weeks in this share, it feels like it's already going by so fast!
We are so happy with the amount of produce we have this year at this time. Of course, the warm sunny weather makes it hard to believe it's November. We're lucky to have this dry weather for preparing the fields for next year!
On The Farm
We've been busy making preparing our honey for some Holiday markets going on around the area. On November 12th we'll be at the Handmaker's Christmas Market at the West Middlesex Memorial Centre, on November 19th we'll be at Winterfest which is a night market and event in Strathroy, and on the weekend of December 2nd-3rd we'll be at Covent Garden Market's Holly Jolly Market! We'll also be selling some wild foraged wreaths, because Alex is pretty handy with anything he puts his mind to.
Veggie Highlights
Two of our favourite veggie dishes we ate this week were a bok choy ginger pork stirfry, and a simple sautee of swiss chard. I find myself with a strange problem on the farm, which is that I feel like I don't have the time to cook with ALL the veggies we grow (I know, I know, what a problem to have...). But as a solution to this veggie FOMO I'm focusing on a seasonal approach. So we don't eat much chard and kale in the summer when we have an overflow of tomatoes and eggplants and zucchinis and so forth. But the fall is a great time to turn to those greens and brassicas, especially since they get even sweeter with the frost. All this to say, that swiss chard was SO tasty, even tastier than I imagined. So maybe give some greens a try this week!
Enjoy your veggies!
Your farmer,
Kim
