We have not done our own plant starts since 2007. Since then we have bought them from a local organic nursery. Sharon (the nursery lady) had to stop doing it last year and after a bad experience with another nursery this spring we are finally up and running again doing our own starts! This brings back an element to the farm that I've always missed. This will allow us to do more exciting things like sprouts, micro greens, maybe some off season arugula or salad mix, potted plants and more!
I'll be out of town this week squeezing in a family vacation before school starts back and after some crazy marathon work weeks building this greenhouse while farming at the same time.
