Each season, we learn something about growing in New Orleans. This winter, we're learning (or being reminded?) that it's really hard to grow in January, and apparently in February too! We know we're not the only farmers in the area feeling frustrated - it's been a challenging year for veggies around here. We're looking forward to the weather warming up (and not looking forward to the freezing temperatures next weekend!) and to getting more hoop houses soon so more of our fields will be covered.
That being said, we've still got a great selection of greens for you this week, plus an assortment of roots, herbs, and oniony things. Compostella and Major Acre Farm are contributing baby greens (and Compostella carrots), and we have more sweet potatoes from Indian Springs. We're excited to have strawberries back on the extras list from Johndales Farm in Ponchatoula. We've got plenty oyster mushrooms from Mycelium Express, eggs from Local Cooling Farm, fresh ginger and turmeric from Too Tall Farm, L'Hoste grapefruits, Lost Line sushi sandwiches, and VEGGI tofu in our extras section as well.
Stay warm, dry, and safe this weekend!
