Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well. We are starting to gear up for the busy season of the farm where things need picked everyday or we end up with cracked tomatoes and giant zucchini. We have trying to dodge the rain drops and get things done on the farm. This week we got the watermelon plants strawed between the rows so that we have no weeds. I will tell that job sucked. It was like cross fit session with someone blowing 150 degree heater on you and the smell. All I can say what a smell. It all from rolling our our rye straw bales that were starting to compost in the inside. We are also getting ready and starting our fall broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, celery, and cabbage. Yes we are already starting to think about thing a few months away. We are hoping to get a few dry days so that we can get in the field lay some more plastic and get more things planted. We also got a new bunch of pigs on the farm which is great because and old or wasted produce gets feed to them.
We are also spent a lot of time reflecting on things this week as the storm came through yesterday. This week marks the 2 year anniversary of when our barn fell over due to a storm much like the one we got this week. We look at how the farm has changed since then and all support that we have from all of you. We also have been looking to the future of the farm and all the plans that we hope to set in motion soon.
We also celebrate our youngest's (Miss Lillian) birthday on Sunday. She will be 4 years old. This also marks a moment in our farming history. It will four years that both Josh and myself have been home one the farm full time. It was fours years ago that we took a chance of the farm taking care of us and so far it has. None of this could be done with out the support of you and our community. And we have been very blessed.
On a different note we have change the time to 7pm on Monday to finalize our delivery time. As we are picking we might find we have more available than what we thought or a new item might be add to the mix.
Hope everyone has a great week,
Lynne
