Greeting from the farm,
How is everyone dealing with heat? We are doing ok. We did get a lot of hay done this week. I mean a lot. I think Josh made over 300 round bales in three days. He is really putting his new round baler to work. We still have 40 acres of hay to do put plan to have it done over the weekend. We also were able to get in the field and get some more things planted.
Our pumpkins and gourd crop planted on Father Day's which I think is funny since pumpkins and gourds are Josh least favorite crops to grow on the farm. We also planted our second planting of winter squash as well as fourth planting of cucumbers and zucchini and summer squash. Our first planting of winter is looking great squash are setting on plants and we should starting have some in a few weeks as well as watermelon are setting really starting to grow too. Josh also checked the potatoes and we should start digging in a two weeks.
Talking about zucchini: what is your favorite way to cook it? One of our favorite ways is to shredded it, add some cheese and bread crumbs and make balls out of them and place them on a cookie sheet and bake. They are like zucchini tator tots. My kids love them.
Also a another quick idea. Some vinegar, dill, garlic scapes, and onion blossom add some cucumbers and you some quick pickles.
Hope every one has a great week,
The Schultz Family
