Hi folks,
I think it will be a short missive tonight, as we've had an extra busy Monday with harvesting, counting and planning for the farm share, and the added bonus of hosting apprentices on our farm. We had an awesome visit with a dozen young people that have spent time on various farms throughout Alberta (including our own Tishawni). It was great to have a group of visitors really interested in all the nitty gritty details of farming; we really enjoyed sharing information about our move to no-till and were able to showcase all the stages of its development.
Sharing some of our field grown melons with our visitors today. It was a real highlight to have these young farmers out! (Next year we hope to grow more of these melons to be able to offer them to you - they were a success!)
Fall Harvest
Harvest is going smoothly. We successfully got our winter squash crop in, and are happy with that! It is curing in our barn attic and we have some limited amounts to offer in the shares this week with more to come as they continue to ripen and cure. Tomorrow is a big carrot harvesting day, and we are looking forward to getting those into our cooler. We are so grateful for mild weather - it makes everything go smoothly and is a dream in terms of bodily comforts!
We wish you all a happy fall!
