What a beautiful fall this has been! Working outside every day, we get to experience the changing colours of fall first hand. These must be some of the finest days of the whole year!
So, this is the last week of our Summer Farm Shares, but it’s not the last of the fresh produce. There’s still lettuce, salad mix, radishes, carrots, spinach, and kale actively growing, and with some protection will keep on producing for a number of weeks yet. Cabbage, onions, carrots, potatoes and squash will store all winter, and we have an abundance of peppers that will keep in our cold room for several weeks. So if you’re not ready to be done, make sure you’re signed up for our Farm Stand emails (link here). We’ll send out a weekly email with the option to place a one time Farm Stand order, as long as we have produce available.
As I’ve mentioned before, our pumpkins and winter squash didn’t produce, so I got in touch with John Wurz of Eagle Creek Colony and he was able to supply us with spaghetti squash, buttercup squash, some large zucchini, and potatoes. They grow on a different scale than us and I don’t know what kind of growing practices they use, but it rounds out the selection for the end of the season.
Finally, thanks again for choosing us to supply your food, it’s not something we take lightly. We enjoy getting to know you, at least slightly, and providing you with some of the finest produce in the country.
Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving!
