Happy official first week of share pick-ups! The CSA season may have just begun, but summer on the farm is nearly in full-swing. This past weekend, we attended our first farmers’ markets of the season! You’ll find us every Saturday at the Greenfield and Amherst Farmers’ Markets selling asparagus and the sweetest sun-kissed strawberries in the Connecticut River Valley (or so we think).
Speaking of strawberries… our pick-your-own berry fields are officially opening this Friday, June 11th! Come stop by from 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday, or 8am-5pm on Sundays. There’s nothing quite like savoring a juicy berry that’s been warmed by the sun, or enjoying a strawberry-rhubarb pie made with fruit picked that morning. You can check our website to find our picking hours and for updates on field conditions.
We love the early summer season here on the farm – there’s so much going on, yet so much to look forward to in the weeks and months ahead. We hope you’re enjoying these long days of sunshine as much as we (and the crops out in our fields) are.
FEATURED ITEM THIS WEEK… Pizza Dough!
Yes, that’s right! In addition to sourdough bread, we’re offering fresh pizza dough this week from Rise Above Bakery in Greenfield, MA. Simply assemble your ingredients (we think tomatoes, oregano, basil, garlic, and maybe even fennel are a match made in heaven), and bake your pizza as you normally would – a pizza stone is recommended but not required. Each 12-ounce bag is $5 and contains enough dough for one 10-12” pie. Pizza dough will be offered at least once every month during weeks when prime pizza-making ingredients are available.
