Still TOMATO TIME and Summer is Heating Up!

Posted on August 3rd, 2024 by Dave Redfearn

Wow, the tomatoes and peppers are going crazy right now!  We have bulk boxes available!  Now is the time to freeze and can those tomatoes!  We won't be swimming in them forever but we are really cranking at this point!  Don't be shy about stocking up.

Also, please tell your friends about the CSA.  At this point and from now on till the end of the season we anticipate having more to harvest than you are able to eat, so we need some more eaters!  Please pass along the info.  Folks can sign up at https://www.harvie.farm/farm/where-the-redfearn-grows-natural-farm/signup

We still have 11 more weeks remaining in the season and we'll only continue to increase in productivity as the heat tapers off and more of our cool season crops get going again.  It's really looking great out there on the farm and we want to make sure all the gorgeous food makes it into happy homes!  This week we were able to donate around 1,000 lbs of produce to our food pantries, which is totally awesome!  We're planning on harvesting additional produce for donation this week as well.  Don't forget, if you aren't able to pick up your share, we hold your share until Tuesday and then add it to our food pantry donations.  The pantries are telling us that they they are at all time highs for the people they serve but are way down on food donations so it's becoming hard to serve all of the people in our community that are in need.  They also tell us that many weeks our produce is the only produce they receive and that people are extremely excited to get fresh food!  So thanks for helping make this a possibility through your CSA membership!  We are anxious to see if we can break our previous donation record of 20,000 lbs in a single year!
