We're rounding the corner into beautiful fall weather, and some of our favorite produce of the year. This week is all about root veggies and greens! Read on to see what's new.
But first, an announcement!
We will be offering a 4 week winter CSA extension, running from October 23 - November 14. Due to availability of produce and labor, we'll be capping our winter membership at 100 members. More info about how to sign up for our winter season coming next week! In the meantime, feel free to reach out with any questions.
New This Week
Tatsoi - some of you ended up with a surprise bunch of tatsoi in your share last week, as a sub for missing micro greens. Tatsoi is sometimes called Asian spinach, and you can use it much in the same way. We love it for its sweetness and crunchy, juicy stems. Read all about tatsoi and how to use it here.
Seasonal Coffee Blends! We have two new coffees in the store this week.
Black Rose from Elementary Coffee Co: "Developed out of verbal petitions from you, the people, for a dark roast coffee, we present to you our Black Rose. A blend of Sumatra Gayo - Arisarina Cooperative and Papua New Guinea, we are proud to roast this coffee with a focus on intention, balance, and equality. It tastes of rich chocolate, mahogany, and ripe cherries. We believe this blend is best paired with any the the books in our Info Shop or simply (maybe not so simply) a little Noam Chomsky on the side." 12oz whole bean/$15
You've Got A Friend Blend from Little Amps: "When you need a seasonal, reliable coffee for any occasion, You've Got a Friend Blend is there for you! This is a new staple in our line up, comprised of fresh crop washed process coffees from Colombia and Ethiopia. We're picking this as our default house espresso, and as a lovely accompaniment to milk drinks, but Friend Blend is equally awesome as drip coffee! Look for candied lemon, bing cherries, milk chocolate, and mellow floral notes." 12oz whole bean/$15
Farm Notes
Microgreens - every time the weather and daylight hours change with the seasons, we have to adjust our seeding schedule for these delicate little sprouts, and sometimes it takes a few days to make the adjustment. Sorry for the missing micros last week! We're back on track.
Lettuce, mizuna and herbs - these plants need a little time to rest and recover before we start harvesting them again, so look out for their return in another week or two.
Egg cartons, rubber bands + wax produce boxes - we're happily accepting all of these returns! Drop them at your pickup location when you get your share. Thanks!
Enjoy the last few days of September and be well,
Morgan + The Earth Spring Farm Team
