What’s in the Box?
Last week we harvested the robust overwintered greens. They were planted in October, grew a little bit, hibernated, then started to grow again when the sun came back in February. I think they are miraculous.
This week we'll harvest the last of the overwintered spinach, and the first of the dainty spring greens. Look forward to BEAUTIFUL spring mix, and an incredibly lovely spicy mix which really might need a bit of a name update because it's not spicy in the spring, it's just perfect.
The radishes are dribbling in and the flood will come next. With their ruby glow and glorious crunch there’s nothing like a radish to announce spring has arrived. This is a bit of a tease, as there are only a handful available but I promise there are more to come!
We also have lots of potatoes, beets, and sweet potatoes, microgreens, and overwintered spring onions. What a treat! We are offering the last of our orange carrots, and bought in some beautiful Pfennings rainbow carrots to round things out.
Coming up soon (in a week or two): arugula and green garlic
Coming up a little later: bok choi, mini romaine heads, turnips and cilantro
Planted but growing oh-so-slowly: beets, carrots, raab, fennel, kohlrabi, and broccolini
On the Farm
It’s been a crazy week. I've been really sick and somehow our amazing crew managed to get our first shares out and keep this farm going. I’m so grateful to them, and to Brian, for doing all the things when I couldn’t.
Next week: sun, new staff, and (fingers-crossed) a fully functional Tamara (and a way better newsletter...).
Happy eating until next time,
Farmer Tamara
