What’s in the Box?

We've got lots of cherry tomatoes.  There is still a sad dearth of slicing tomatoes, but honestly cherry tomatoes have way better tomato-flavor, and I hope they fill the void for you.

Our early onions got damaged by leek moth and are less abundant then I had planned for.  Luckily our partners at CnA Farm (Cheil & Anne-Marie Farm) in Kincardine are harvesting some onions early for us and we'll have the first ones available this week.

The rainbow carrots continue to delight.

We'll harvest the first handful of peppers this week and now that the temperatures are climbing again, I expect this will ramp up quickly.

We are harvesting the last of the melons this week.

On the Farm

We celebrated Jack's 10th birthday last week with a farm full of friends and family and a table full of strawberry cake.  He's developed a real obsession with ants, so most of his birthday gifts ran along that theme.  I'm not sure how he got to be 10; all the things people say about time flying are completely true.

It felt like fall this week: one morning the temperature read 5 degrees celcius.  While I enjoyed it, I'm glad to see summer has not come to an end.

The one bright spot on our tomato crop failure, is that it's opened up extra time to keep the farm well maintained.  I've never had such well weeded fields in late August.  It's LOVELY.

That’s all for now, happy eating until next time,

Farmer Tamara
