What’s in the Box?

This is the final week for melons.  Zucchini and cucumbers are starting to wind down but we should have the first of our winter squash in a week or so.

The spinach this week was a bust, but the plantings for next week and beyond look amazing so it'll only be a short break.  The arugula, baby kale, and mixed greens are gorgeous.

I've had a few folks ask about ginger; we'll do some test digging mid month and might be able to offer some in late September.  It looks like there will be tons in October- it just takes forever to grow.

On the Farm

After a week of being short-staffed, but still managing to pull off the essentials, we are really looking forward to taking Holiday Monday off.  We don't take many long weekends (though we are trying to do more of this), but we've taken Labour Day off for many years now as a celebration of having made it through the most intense part of the season.

I love September on the farm and can already see how the swing of work and crops is shifting to fall.  I'm looking forward to squash and peppers and hope you are too.

Enjoy your long weekend y'all!

That’s all for now, happy eating until next time,

Farmer Tamara
