ON THE FARM

This past week we were really reminded of the turning of the season with some chilly weather! All bundled up we took to the field to start harvesting our fall storage crops.

After a bit of rough housing, we managed to pull in all the beets and will have all of our massive U.F.Os (kohlrabi), cabbage and winter radishes (watermelon and daikon) put away by weeks` end.

We were able to hustle through the short week with a little help from Ruby with packing our veggies.

What's in the Box?

We will have the first of our brussel sprouts this week. These mini cabbages are sweet from a couple of decent frosts and ready for your culinary magic!

We also have a lot of butternut squash on offer this week that are quite decently sized so you could make a few dishes with this sweetie. Mashed squash with brown butter and thyme (or rosemary), coconut thai curry butternut with chicken or tofu or a peanut-ty pureed soup!

Lastly, we have lots of dill and fennel on offer. Fennel is delicious sliced thinly in a citrus salad or roasted with root veggies and protein of your choice for an easy sheet pan meal. Dill is tasty as a garnish, used in mashed potatoes (recommended by our resident tall queen Amanda) or try it in place of basil in pesto. While you're at it, pick up some parsley and garlic to make a delicious chimichurri sauce!

That's all for now! Happy eating until next time!
