Welcome to week 1 of your Summer FarmShare! Thank you so much for joining us. Look forward to asparagus, rhubarb, spring mix, green garlic, kale and so much more! You have until tomorrow at 2pm to make changes to your share.
Last week UNH Cooperative Extension & Fresh Start Farm Manager, Anthony, led a workshop on the practice of tarping to help manage weeds for the Concord Fresh Start Farmers. Tarping is a popular practice for small-scale organic farms to manage weeds where beds are tilled and prepared for planting and then covered using a durable, black plastic tarp with the goal of reducing weed pressure. The Fresh Start Farmers are always working hard to utilize the best sustainable practices on their farms!

FruitShare Update
This week's share will be a 3lb bag of Spartan Apples from Champlain Orchards or a 3lb bag of Small Red Honeycrisps from Dutton Berry Farm.
Grab some asparagus and cilantro this week to make this delicious stir-fry!
The trick to this citrusy dish is to get your pan roaring hot before adding the ingredients, which brings out all of the flavors in the aromatics while keeping the asparagus beautifully bright green and crisp.
Green garlic has a milder, fresher, and sweeter taste than regular hardnecked garlic. The whole plant can be eaten, and it has a spicier, more intense bite than scallions, but can be used in much the same way.

We are a collective brand for immigrant and refugee farmers participating in the New American Sustainable Agriculture Program, a program of the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success. We work alongside new American farmers to bring farm fresh ingredients to your table via neighborhood farm stands, farmers markets, our FarmShare, wholesale and through NH Farm to School.
Twenty-three new American farmers make up Fresh Start Farms. Nine farmers are part of the New American Farmers Co-op and grow at Our Farm on Story Hill in Dunbarton, NH. An additional 14 farmers, the Umoja Farmers, grow on land at the St. Paul's School in Concord, NH.
All producers in the Fresh Start Farms collective implement organic practices. While not certified organic, the farmers grow nutrient dense produce without chemicals and in a way that promotes healthy soil, habitat, and environment.
We speak 13 languages, represent 7 countries and grow over 50 different varieties of produce!
