We're beginning to pick the summer stalwarts -- corn and tomatoes. We try to pick the tomatoes green enough to survive the journey to your house, but they ripen very quickly in this weather. If they arrive damaged, please let us know and accept our apologies. We'll credit your account. You may see insect damage on some of the corn because we haven't sprayed it with poison. Just cut off the bad part and eat the rest. The bugs won't hurt us, but the poison that keeps them away will. We'll also be packing potatoes again this week -- in paper bags to avoid the spoilage they suffered when we had to pack them in plastic. We have plenty of beets available, so if you love them like I do, don't hesitate to add them to your share.

About the farm
Great Country Farms is a diversified family farm on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Using sustainable growing practices, we raise 50 to 60 crops each year, which we sell to members and visitors. We believe it is important to make clean, nutritionally vibrant food available to as many people as possible. It is our mission to give people a chance to see how their food grows, and we want to preserve the ecosystem of our soil for future generations.
