We have two items in large quantity this week: plums and cucumbers. Some of the plums might need to ripen for a couple of days on your counter. If they're already soft, you might want to refrigerate them, or just eat them soon. The cucumbers should be refrigerated immediately. We expect to pick thousands of them over the next few weeks, so you might explore different ways to use them. This recipe includes four items available in this week's share. We also hope to have a steady supply of beans and squash, which are two of the Three Sisters said to have sustained indigenous Americans for centuries. The other sister, corn, should start coming in next week.
Another new feature this week will be the chance to order cheese and frozen meat as add-ons. Those items will be packed in insulated envelopes with ice, but the meat is likely to thaw en route, so it will have to be eaten soon. It can't be refrozen.
Please remember that good food goes bad quickly in this weather, so eat up.
