WATERMELON

We are cracking open beautiful watermelons! Our variety is Crimson Sweet, a delicious pink watermelon. With real seeds. The patch is looking good, we anticipate watermelons for a few weeks. Our sons used to grow and sell the watermelons. They have grown up and now we grow the melons as a special CSA item. Enjoy!

WHAT'S GROWING ON

We finally got some much-needed rain, up to 6 inches, from tropical storm Debby. The decreased temperatures are much appreciated too. The garden is all watered for a minute! Favorite August crops include peppers, eggplant and summer squash. Tomatoes too, but we start ours early so they tend to wane early. We are past the peak but some will continue to ripen for us. Our garlic is cured and ready for you! Our hard-neck garlic is the best. Greens are rough in August when bug pressure is peak. Yet still, Phil is a lettuce magician and is working on offering lettuce every week like he did last year!

POTATO DIGGING TIME

It’s time to dig our Kennebec potatoes! Come dig in the dirt with us! Harvesting potatoes is like digging for treasure. It’s a satisfying job. Very kid friendly!! We will be watching the forecast because we need semi-dry soil conditions for digging. Hoping to dig Friday August 16 at 10am, during CSA pickup so it’s easy for you to join us. Stay tuned.

RESCHEDULE FOR TRIPS

Going away in August? You can rearrange the dates of your pickups in advance. Find your pickup dates on your Harvie profile and reschedule around trips and busy weeks. If you leave your share, no worries. Every week we donate leftover produce to the Frederick Food Bank.
