HITW ribbons from The Great Frederick Fair

House in the Woods Farm brought home some pretty ribbons from the fair! You can see them in the Veggie Shed, along with Ilene’s felted bees. It’s always good to participate in this community event and celebrate the harvest at the end of the season. Did you make it to the fair?

WHAT'S GROWING ON

Happy fall! We have pie pumpkins for you!! They are cute little pumpkins you can cook or keep as a decoration. Or both. Enjoy the butternut squash too. I will share my favorite squash soup recipe, Tunisian Pumpkin Soup (you can absolutely use butternut).

We pulled up some sweet potato vines and they are not producing much so far. The summer drought may have drastically delayed their growth. They will likely keep growing and we will monitor them. Hopefully we can get you some sweets before the CSA wraps up.

TWO FUN FALL U-PICK TREATS

The kiwi on the arbor that shades the front of the Veggie Shed is ripening! It is a Northern Hardy Kiwi arbor, full of ripening kiwi berries. You are invited to search for squishy ones that will be sweet and impressively similar to the tropical fruit. You may take a few home to ripen on your counter.

Fall Snap Peas! We are excited to see the pea vines flowering. We anticipate peas in the next couple weeks. Watch for them! They will be U-Pick.

RENEWALS COMING UP

We begin preparing for next season during October! If you want IN on CSA 2025, make sure your Auto-renew is set to ON. You can reply back to me for help setting Auto-renew on or off, or you can do this yourself in your Harvie profile.
