DIGGING THE SWEETS
The sweet potatoes are coming in! We have dug some to get things started. Stay tuned for a date for a dig or at least a few times throughout pickups that you can help dig some sweets. Maybe this Thursday at pickup? Find Farmer Phil and ask what he’s up to!
WHAT'S GROWING ON
Happy Fall!
Summer crops are diminishing and we’re out of white potatoes. We do have a comeback of tomatoes and a late planting of cucumbers. And its winter squash time--pie pumpkins, butternut and gourds! And sweet potatoes!!
The fall season brings us more greens reminiscent of the spring season--watch for chard, bok choy, kale, lettuce, arugula and tatsoi (Asian spinach). Greens love the cool temps of spring and fall, with a milder flavor in fall as it gets cooler out.
TRY OUR KIWI BERRIES
You are invited to pick some kiwi berries off the arbor in front of the Veggie Shed. Take home a handful of berries to ripen on your counter. When they are squishy, they are ready and delicious! You can eat the whole berry skin and all. But I recommend two bites so you can see how similar they look to tropical kiwis.
