You can't farm without talking about the weather! While we have had a mild beginning to the Summer the extreme heat and humidity is here to stay for the next few months! This means working early in morning and take a break until later afternoon and work till dark. We are doing a lot of cleaning up beds and planting cover crops like Sunn Hemp and Buckwheat or covering with tarps to kill back any weeds that have accumulated during the rainy weeks.
We are working out the final details for our Fall CSA and will be getting the information out to you soon! While its very hot and hard to image Fall we are already in the planning stages. If you are a current member and have auto renew you will not have to do anything, if you are feeling the Fall CSA is not for you just sign in to Harvie and make sure the Auto-renew is shut off. The funds we collect during the auto renew (25%) assist us in buying seeds, growing medium for seedlings, fertilizer, compost and labor. Much work goes on before we harvest our first Fall crop.
