It's a hen's world out here! They love pecking around in the early morning and late afternoons. Not so much in the heat of the day. That's when they do most of their egg laying business and lay in the shade taking dust baths.
After some irrigating and time we finally have a bean crop sprouted. The dry heat wave made it to dry for the seed to sprout. I'm later than I like to be on beans. The first crop rotted in torrential downpours and cooler weather.
Now the trick is to keep the deer off of them. Deer are our biggest pest problem by far. A constant battle with a mix of several strategies. If we ever let our guard down the crop will be gone quick!
