Late July is always a challenging time on the farm. The weather is hot and humid, the harvests are overwhelming, and the list of fall crops to plant is long.
Last week was exhausting but we managed to plant all our fall broccoli and cauliflower, seed all our winter carrots and beets and harvest all 2000 bulbs of garlic before the rain. We're not over the hump yet - there's still lots of harvesting to keep up with, but it does feel like perhaps we have passed the peak of the season's workload.
Beans are ready this week. We'll have both green and yellow available from now until late September.
The cherry tomato flood has begun. We should have lots of these tasty treats for the next 8 weeks as well.
