New plantings for October harvest: At this time of year we plant spinach, arugula, mixed greens, & turnips, along with the salad mix that should be ready in mid to late October. Looks almost like spring again!
This week's offerings: Cucumber season is just about done; today's cuke will probably be the last! Cauliflower this week; some heads large! Assorted peppers coming on now--bells, frying peppers (longer, pointy shape; not hot!), and lunch box peppers (mini sweet peppers). Mini bok choi for some of you!
Coming soon: Sweet potatoes
Farm Activities: It is mostly just harvesting at this time of year, and for the next month or so! The planting is (except for the above crops, and for crops going into the greenhouses) done for the season, and there are much less weeds to worry about, and much less need for irrigating. It's about time! As crops finish up, we look to plant cover crops, which will sprout and keep our soil covered over the winter months!
Have a great week!
