Harvesting kale into big bins before major freeze

NEW CUTOFF TIME FOR THIS DELIVERY:  MONDAY 2 PM!

This week's offerings: As usual for this time of year, a wide variety of veggies available to you!  New this week are the organic cranberries produced by James Lake Farms here in Wisconsin.  We also have available a new squash for us, called Tetsukabuto.  It is a cross between kabocha and butternut varieties.  It keeps very well, and has good flavor!  This is our last delivery before Thanksgiving, so feel free to stock up if your fridge or pantry has room!  Plenty of extras of just about every crop this year!

Note:  Eggs also available, but would need to be ordered to be included in your tote.  (Egg shares that were available during the regular season ended with the last delivery of the regular season 2 weeks ago.)

Next time (in 2 weeks, on December 2nd):  Same array of characters, with minor variations!  And then one more delivery on December 16th!

On the farm: Final harvesting of field crops going on; here are the containers that we use to harvest and to store the kale.  We can store the kale for a few weeks in our coolers.  Fortunately other crops (like carrots, potatoes, beets, onions) can be stored much longer through the winter!

Garlic is planted, and mulched, cover crops seeded where applicable, and we are buttoning down the greenhouses so that we can extend the growing season indoors for things like spinach, salad mix, kale, carrots, and scallions for the next couple months.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
