Our gardens have been suffering from lack of rain and high temperatures, but we finally got a good soaking today (Tuesday). Drip irrigation keeps things alive, but rain helps crops thrive. (The chickens enjoy the new growth of grass, too!)
We have our first few large tomatoes for sale this week, plus a few boxes of cherry tomatoes. We are also listing some bags of romaine lettuce. We still have plenty of cucumbers, zucchini and summer squash, plus beets, green onions, a few bags of green beans (we’re between crops), arugula, eggs, garlic, honey, ground beef, strawberry jam, herbs and flowers.
It will take a while for crops to recover from the dry heat, but we should have more produce available next week. The late crop of raspberries is just beginning as well, so we should have those available next week. Soon we’ll be making a new batch of raspberry jam, so stay tuned.
