Hooray for Cooler Weather!

Posted on September 7th, 2021 by Ron Meyer

We’re thankful for the cooler weather that came in the end of last week. Our crops, however, are still suffering the aftereffects of high heat, humidity, pounding rain and wind. We were lucky that we received only one-and-a-half inches of rain from Hurricane Ida, but wind blew down sunflowers and dahlias, rain swamped the beets and the basil, and the weeds are going crazy!

All that aside, Ron’s been digging potatoes, so we have those on the list again this week. And some butternut squash and a few acorn squash. We still have a lot of tomatoes and red raspberries, and some green beans. We also have garlic, green onions, poblano peppers, and fresh herbs. Lettuce is finished for now, until our new rows of salad mix and romaine are ready to pick. And we have eggs, local honey, and strawberry and raspberry jam.

Beginning this week, we are listing different cuts of grass-fed beef, along with ground beef. We offer a variety of roasts and steaks. For those of you who have been ordering these, listing them online will make it easier for you. Please note that steaks are generally two to a package.
