Good Evening Folks,
We hope you've had a great long weekend! Jenny and the boys were able to get to the mountains for a little break together before the busyness of school kicks in, and James valiantly held down the fort along with our fabulous staff. It was great to get away, and equally great to return to our little corner of the world.
You'll see that we've introduced a few more crops to the roster this week, such as parsnips and celeriac. Fall veggies are some of our favorites; they really satisfy the need for more hearty nourishment! We also began harvesting from our new crop of carrots, so you'll notice that they are smaller again as well as bunched rather than bagged. Remember to make sure that you're preferences for the crops we grow are all up to date so that your boxes are built according to what you enjoy.
We've had some questions about how many weeks remain, so here is a reminder that the last farm share for the summer season goes out the weekend of Sept. 24/25.
We hope that you enjoy your shares this week!
Warmly,
Jenny, James and the boys
p.s. Pictured in the photo is our lovely little flock of egg-laying hens. They are the sweetest bunch we've had - full of personality and so fun to have around, not to mention helpful in the egg department. We've started to let them wander around a bit, and they are particularly fond of the straw-mulched field where they find plenty to forage on. Their names are Mabel, Franny, Shirley Temple and Esmerelda.
