I was always told that the “definition of insanity” was doing the same thing but expecting different results. Whoever coined that phrase never farmed, I think. Because in my experience the opposite is true. Take potatoes, for example. Last year everything went so perfectly and we had a fantastic potato year. So naturally, we did exactly the same thing as last year but definitely did not get the same results. I mean, same varieties and seed potato source, same planting date, same everything! But this year was a terrible potato year. Sigh, it’s enough to make me feel insane.
