When the weather breaks, it really breaks! We went from frost protection/cold damage to summer heat in a heartbeat, but I'll take it! Spring growing has been extremely slow so we're happy to see things speed up a bit. Here is the cutest little zephyr squash ever: a true harbinger of summer.
Just a couple of logistical items, especially for those new members! Yes! We re-use the boxes. The liner is there for food safety and so is yours to keep (we cannot re-use those), but we definitely want the boxes back! You can bring back your empty box the next week to leave at your pick up location or take the liner bag with the produce in it and go (don't forget your eggs! They are packed outside of the liner so as not to get them wet.) We also take back egg cartons (the grower really appreciates your returned egg cartons!). The salad/arugula containers are compostable. If you don't have a compost, or if your compost pile is too small (generally need about 3 ft cubed), we will take those back and compost them in our giant pile.
Ever missing an item? If there's an asterisk on your label, your final email reminder on Tuesday should tell you that we replaced the product or gave you credit for it. Sometimes, something happens between Thursday and Tuesday harvest day that results in a shortage of the product. If there's no asterisk (or you don't have your label to look at), let us know if something is missing! We strive for perfect packing, but we occasionally make mistakes and leave an item out of your box. Let us know if this happens to you so we can get you a credit or the missing item if possible. We usually know when we've made a mistake, but as each box is different, we don't know which box suffered from our mistake, so shoot us an email or text 336-452-2920 to let us know.
The facebook group is rocking y'all! Tons of great recipe ideas/cooking tips! Let's keep it going--helping each other make the most of our harvest shares and most importantly, eating our veggies!!!! If you haven't yet and you're on facebook (even if you're not very active, you can still participate in our group): you can join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/tsfharvestsharemember2021
Lastly, we are hiring! We're moving quickly so if you know anyone interested, have them contact us (farmer@tumblingshoalsfarm.com) as soon as possible, but Kaitie starts her project management the first of June and we're trying to fill her shoes.
Have a great week y'all and enjoy your harvest!
