This is it. The great clash of seasons likely ends this week with significant freezes predicted for later next week. It's been a wild and enjoyable ride this fall, with many kitchen experiments using the ingredients of overlapping seasons. We'll be out scrambling to get the last of those summer fruiting crops, but then we're going to let them go. It's time. We've been harvesting and eating those crops for a long season. Our bodies are ready for slower times and heavier foods (got to fatten up for the winter!). Much more roasting and slow simmering is in order. It's one of the things I love about seasonal living: watching the meals change with the leaves, both in spring and fall. Enjoy your harvest this week!
