It's officially State Fair time! At market last Saturday it was very obvious as there was a larger crowd than normal and a lot of people wanting to take pictures of our booth ; ). Still hard for me to believe that it's State Fair time as the temperatures make it feel more Fall like than mid-August!
This week Eggplant will be making an appearance in a few of your Shares! We'll also be harvesting green peppers to be included in all your shares based on your preferences you selected when you signed up. The cherry and full size tomatoes are just starting to ripen up and expect to start seeing them next week! I've been talking about how crazy the weather has been for awhile and the harvesting of these crops is a perfect example! In a typical season the harvest order usually starts with Cherry Tomatoes. Then, as the Red Slicer tomatoes start ripening we also begin harvesting Red Bell Peppers. Then as the Heirloom tomatoes start ripening we begin harvesting the other colored peppers, hot peppers and eggplant. This year the harvesting order is all out of whack even though the plants were all planted at the same time both in the greenhouse and in the field.
