Last week I was writing about how it's beginning to feel like Fall and this week we have highs in the Upper 80s. Looking at the extended forecast it seems like in a few days we will be dropping down into the 60s. This week seems to some up the entire season, weather-wise. Totally unpredictable!!!
Over the weekend I took a certification course to become a Substitute Teacher. No, I'm not quitting the Farm but just get really anxious in the winter when I tend to sit around more. Huge THANK YOU to Kate and Tom for holding down the Farm while I was gone. They ran the Farm Stand on Thursday, did all the Farm work on Friday and also did the Des Moines Market on Saturday morning. It was hard for me to be away from the Farm, but I was confident they can handle it and did better than I could have hoped for.
This week we will be doing some of the last Field plantings and also planting out one of the High Tunnels. It's also time to start preparing the Farm for Winter. This involves both getting the greenhouse cleared out and setting the tables back up in preparation for Micro Green production throughout the Winter and starting plants in the beginning of January.
