What's new:
We just started picking snap peas but quantities are limited. If you rated peas a 5 in your preferences about 100 people will get them this week. There will be more coming.
ONIONS - the scallions/green onions/spring onions are finished for the season but the bulb onions are starting to appear. These are fresh white onions with the leaf stalks attached which you can continue to use like scallion greens.
Garlic Scapes - we are finishing up the last of these. Later in July we'll be picking and curing our bulb garlic harvest.
Dill - the plants have matured and the leafy fronds have died back. They are now producing the flowering seed heads which are great to use in picking your cakes or any other vegetable you want to ferment with a dill flavor.
Kale - we are happy that our kale has done so well this late in the season. We'll keep picking it as long as it lasts.
Greens: You'll notice that lettuce, bok choi, and Chinese cabbage are done for now. Romaine lettuce handles the heat better than spring lettuce varieties so it may appear occasionally throughout the summer. Swiss chard does well in the summer and will be your "go to" leafy green. Many of the spring greens will re-appear in the fall.
Tomatoes are available for extra purchase. These are early, certified organic, red tomatoes grown by Leroy Sauder. The tomatoes on our farm won't be ready for a few weeks but we decided to make this special purchase of the first farm grown tomatoes of the season available to our members.
