I'm writing on Monday morning and the crew is out picking beans, cucumbers and cabbage.
The Farmer's week started a bit rough with problem solving but thankfully he got his tractors fixed this morning. And as difficult as it is, the challenge of problem solving is one of the characteristics of the job that keeps Farmer Reuben interested and engaged in his line of work. Doing the same thing everyday is not for him.
This week I'll be fitting in as much tomato canning as I can and a couple more batches of cucumbers. I need to make relish and bread and butter pickles for the year. As for tomatoes, my goal is always to get 100 jars on my cellar shelves to use in soups, stews and sauces for the rest of the year.
We have hundreds of pounds of tomatoes so it is a good week to order bulk tomatoes for your food preservation needs. Do you make sauce or salsa? The roma/paste tomatoes that we have this week are perfect for that! Don't miss the Bulk Tomatoes on the Extras page of your email.
We'll keep farming for you!
