Gorgeous fall weather in the last few weeks means that we are keeping winter out of our minds. But farmers have to use this time to prepare. As the night time temperatures begin to dip down into the freeze zone, we harvest the last of our crops and prepare equipment, animals, shelters and our mentality for the winter.
Last Saturday was our last on farm market for a while. We are ready for a break but we are excited that so many of you joined our Winter CSA. That means that, even though we'll be closed on the weekends, great, organically grown farm food is coming your way. We'll be open next on Saturday, October 30.
Farmer Reuben included greens in your shares this week. This is the perfect week to use them in Farm Greens & Sunflower Seed Salad which uses any combination of greens. Try Collards in Greens Braised with Pancetta and Garlic.
Don't forget to check out the extras for Pastured chicken or duck, cheese for your salads, mushrooms, apples, bulk sweet potatoes and bread.
Enjoy your veggies this week! Your next delivery will be on November 10.
Let us know if you have any questions about your Farm Share CSA - we are happy to help.
We'll keep farming for you!
