Farm Happenings for July 21, 2021

Posted on July 16th, 2021 by Lorien Carsey

It's been a whirlwind at the farm: once a year garlic/onion harvest, once a year carrot seeding, weird weather, staff vacations, vehicle breakdowns, and sooo much harvest of good food.

For all of you Urbana folks, thanks for your patience on Wednesday. We had a minor lift-gate issue on our truck and got backed up. It turned out to be an easy fix. Please have those window signs though, it makes such a difference to our runners to be able to see ahead to get your box ready if the line gets backed up. The window signs should be HUGE, with both first and last names in bold, dark strokes, able to be seen from a good distance.

You may notice a temporary lapse in availability of leafy greens. That is typical of July and August. Don't worry, they come back. We seed lettuce/arugula/cilantro every week, and we just planted another round of bunching greens. For now, you can have sweet, crunchy cabbage for slaws and salads, and enjoy the fruits of summer: tomatoes, peppers, squash, and eggplant.

Some housekeeping: As you all know, every share is individual and customizable, which means all the boxes are different. This inherently increases the potential for human error, as our packers have to keep focused and alert to every single box label. If you don't get something you ordered, please let us know and we'll either put it in your box the week following, or give you a credit. We're always improving our system, and we appreciate your support and patience! The best way to let us know about any issues is to email us at bluemoonfarmurbana@gmail.com

Enjoy the good tastes!
