This week was HOT here on the farm! With temperatures climbing into the 90s and no rain in the forecast, the plants were thirsty and needed plenty of water. We’ve been moving irrigation reels around day and night trying to keep with up with the plants’ water needs. We’re doing our best, but a summer rain shower would be welcomed with open arms right about now.
With the hot temperatures, our summer crops are starting to make their first appearances on the farm. We are now harvesting summer squash, zucchini, and cucumbers on a regular basis. And when walking through the field today I noticed the first tomato starting to change color – it won’t be long now! Eggplant, peppers, and melons will be here soon as well. Abundant summer harvests are here to stay (for now).
Hope you’re all enjoying the heat and staying cool.
