Farm Happenings for December 13, 2024

Posted on December 9th, 2024 by Alex Smith

Happy Monday all,

It's hard to believe that we have arrived at the final delivery of the year. Years go by fast on the farm, faster than some days and weeks. But, as always, we are incredibly grateful for your support of our mission to grow great food and great young folks. Despite the challenging growing season weather, we are proud of the veggies we have turned out this year. We hit a bunch of production records this year, much of which we owe to the energy, enthusiasm, and diligence of students and apprentices.

I seized the opportunity of the cold this past week to hammer away at our annual crop plan. It is a long list of when, where, and how to plant each crop. As it stands now, we plan to grow 84 different products across 257 plantings next year. To curate this list, I've poured over a lot of data:  our production notes from this year, yield totals, your stated preferences on Harvie, the performance of the crops during the Harvie customization period, notes from our other sales outlets, survey results from the 24 week CSA members and more. This list will change some over the coming weeks as we gather more data, including your survey results. I've already begun ordering the seeds for next year. We are hopeful to have your join us again in 2025!

Enjoy the veggies!

Alex

Please note that not all produce in your share has been washed, including leafy greens. We recommend you wash all produce prior to eating.
