Farm Happenings for August 28, 2020

Posted on August 24th, 2020 by Will Nelson

*REMEMBER TO RETURN YOUR CSA BAGS EACH WEEK. THANK YOU!*

This week on the farm we parted ways with our summer crew as they return home to start classes for the fall. Our crew size dropped significantly this week and when this happens on the farm, we refer to it as our skeleton crew. Fortunately, it didn’t feel like that as we had students workers start to join us for weekday shifts on the farm. We are also lucky to have the support from our CSA, staff, and faculty members who have been generous enough to come out and volunteer.

With the cooler weather this week we were able to accomplish many tasks on the farm. We harvested the rest of our potato crop, roughly 2,000 pounds of tomatoes, and we keep working to get carrots and beets out of the ground and into the cooler. It won’t be long before we are harvesting our sweet potatoes and winter squash. I’m looking forward for the fall harvest to come.
