Announcement: This is a reminder that there will NOT be a Friday pickup on November 26th because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Instead, please pick up your share on Tuesday November 23rd from 12-5 at Project Share. Thank you.
As we entered November the farm saw the first hard frost of the year. We walked outside to frozen crops and fields and it seemed as if everything changed overnight, and it did! The first frost of the year typically marks the transition into the last part of the season. The apprentices only have a few weeks left on the farm and our regular season CSA has already passed. As we move into the last few weeks of the season, work on the farm starts to change. With veg work winding down, the farm team transitions into farm cleanup and working on various projects. It's a good time to reflect and appreciate all the hard work we put in over the year.
Don't let the frost fool you though, we still have plenty of fresh delicious vegetables coming out of the fields and greenhouses. While most crops are slowing down and finishing up, we still have a few vegetables to look forward to, mainly Brussels Sprouts. This brassica gets planted the first week of July and doesn't make it's appearance on the farm until mid-November. Make to sure to look for them in the coming weeks.
